Introduction
Hyperhidrosis is a disorder characterizedby abnormally increased perspiration than needed for the regulation of bodytemperature. Hyperhidrosis (hi-hi-PUR-DRO-SIS) is the frequent or constantexcessive sweating. Sweating is the body's mechanism to cool itself andmaintain the core temperature. In most cases, it is natural and healthy. Butsome people perspire in quantities greater than necessary resulting in thecondition called hyperhidrosis in them.
Hyperhidrosis usually affects the palms,soles and armpits. It disrupts normal daily activities and can cause socialanxiety or shame. | |
