Dr Seth started the “Newer Devices in Coronary Intervention” program in 1991 with the introduction of Directional Coronary Atherectomy, and added Stenting in 1992, and Rotational Atherectomy in 1993. Percutaneous Cardiopulmonary Bypass program was also initiated in 1991. In 1994, Dr Seth's Department acquired the Angioscope (Baxter) and the Intravascular Ultrasound, and have been using them increasingly to aid decision-making during coronary interventions. Dr Seth's department is the first center in India to use the AngioJet™ Thrombectomy Device and, in 1998, became one of the first centers in Asia to start the Percutaneous Myocardial Laser Revascularization program. Currently, about 10% of all percutaneous coronary interventions done at the Escorts Heart Institute use stand-alone balloon angioplasties, while 90% of such interventions employ the newer devices, with Adjunctive Balloon Angioplasty.
