Introduction
Thrombocytopenia is a medical condition in which your blood has an abnormally low number of platelets. Platelets are colorless blood cell fragments that play an important role in the blood clotting process. They clump and form plugs in the blood vessels holes to stop blood loss. When your blood has a lower-than-normal number of platelets, mild to serious bleeding may occur inside or outside your body.
