Treatment

Prednisolone, in high doses; if presented within few days of onset can be given to prevent weakness becoming paralysis by reducing nerve edema. Contraindicated in Ramsay- Hunt syndrome.

Protect eye with dark glasses, tear drops to prevent drying

Use of paper tape to depress the upper eyelid during sleep and prevent corneal drying

Massage of the weakened muscles

Lateral tarsorrhaphy if ectropion is severe

If recovery fails in long term (atleast 9 months), surgical correction of the drooping face can be attempted although results are rarely satisfactory.
