Overview
Syringomyelia is an intermittently progressive neurological disease characterized by the development of fluid-filled cavities within the spinal cord. Symptoms are weakness and wasting of the hands, with sensory loss, and difficulty in walking. The disease may progress to involve the lower brain stem, a condition known as syringobulbia.
