Introduction
It is a congenital condition in which the visceral organs are at the opposite side than that of their normal positions. However all organs maintain their normal position in relation to each other.
Situssolitus is the term for normal arrangement. In cases wherein the arrangement cannot be determined, it is called situs ambiguous or heterotaxy.
In this condition all the visceral organs are on the opposite side than their normal position in the body. Generally it affect the organs in Thorax and Abdomen. The liver and Gall Bladder get located in left side. Lung with three lobes is on the Left side while the Right side Lung has two lobes. The heart is on the right side. The blood vessels, nerves, lymphatics and intestines are also at the opposite side. | |
