Introduction
Cervical osteoarthritis is also known as cervical spondylosis. This is a condition that involves changes that occur to the discs, joints and bones of the neck. The changes are brought about by wear and tear of aging. The disc of the spine become stiffer, gradually breakdown and lose fluid as the human being begins to age. Cervical osteoarthritis usually happens in elderly and middle aged people. Apart from the breaking down of the vertebrae (Individual bones in the cervical spine) abnormal growth called osteophytes can occur on the neck bones.
Cervical osteoarthritis usually causes stiffness and neck pains. Although cervical osteoarthritis is rarely progressive, surgery can be an option in severe cases. | |
