Introduction
Colitis collagenous is a condition that is considered to be inflammatory condition that affects the colon and produces watery and persistent diarrhea. Another condition called lymphocytic colitis is assumed to be the same condition as collagenous; they are just different stages of the same condition. This condition is also referred to as microscopic colitis as it can only be indentified when viewing tissue samples under a microscope. Treatment typically begins with the changing of lifestyle but there are also several types of medication available to help with treatment. Only very serious cases require surgery and cases such as that are very rare.
