Causes of Ascariasis Ascariasis is caused by consuming uncooked or improperly cooked food contaminated with feces containing eggs of ascaris lumbricoides or by ingestion of contaminated soil by children. Soil is commonly polluted by open-air defecation.
This infection is common in those who live in areas where there is poor sanitation, in people who have poor hygiene and where human stool is used as a fertilizer. | |
